Facility is seeking an Interventional Cardiologist for ongoing locum coverage, with the potential for a locum-to-permanent opportunity. This position is available due to a physician departure, with coverage needed as soon as credentialed through the placement of a permanent physician.
????The opening is approximately 1.0 FTE, though the practice is open to utilizing 2–3 physicians to collectively cover the need.
Schedule & Coverage
- 4–5 shifts per week
- 2-3 clinic shifts
- 2 cath lab shifts
- Approximately 1–2 weeks of coverage per month, depending on the number of physicians available
- Must be comfortable providing both inpatient and outpatient coverage
- Weekday call: Approximately 1 night of call per weekday during assigned coverage
- Weekend call: 1 weekend on-call shift during assigned coverage
- Call ratio: Approximately 1:6
- Call type: Beeper/phone call
- Average callback: Approximately 2–4 hours, depending on weekday vs. weekend coverage
- No general cardiology rounding responsibilities — hospital rounding is covered by the non-invasive cardiology team
Clinical Setting
- Practice Setting: Clinic and Inpatient/Hospital-Based
- Patient Population: Adults, age 18+
- Patient Mix: Approximately 60% inpatient / 40% outpatient
- Trauma Center: Level II
- Hospital Cath Lab Volume: Approximately 4–6 procedures per day, including add-ons
- Clinic Volume: Approximately 18–20 patients per day, depending on the mix of new and established patients
- EMR: EPIC for both inpatient and outpatient care
Procedures & Skills
The following skills are preferred:
- Cardiac catheterization and coronary angiography
- Balloon angioplasty
- Treatment of pulmonary embolisms
- PCI with IVUS
- Stent implantation
- Atherectomy
- Valvuloplasty
- Left main PCI
- Bifurcation stenting
- Mechanical circulatory support, including:
- IABP
- Impella
- ECMO
Additional Responsibilities
- Support APP training efforts within the Interventional Cardiology specialty
- Provide both inpatient and outpatient clinical coverage
- Participate in assigned weekday and weekend call
Credentialing & Start Date
- Estimated credentialing timeframe: Approximately 90-120 days
- Start date: As soon as credentialed
- Ongoing coverage anticipated until a permanent physician is hired
